My ongoing series of boat vessels reflects our deep concern with the plight of refugees escaping by boat from war-stricken lands.

On a visit to the American ‘National Museum of African-American History and Culture’, I was struck by the 18th century exhibit of the slave boats.

‘The Journey’ vessel echoes this experience, and a statement about today's events.
