A mezuzah is a piece of parchment with Hebrew words placed inside a decorative case on the doorpost of Jewish homes. The words, taken from ‘Deuteronomy 6:4-9’, include the love of God and the obligation to teach the commandments to each new generation of children. They are written by a trained scribe in a black indelible ink. While the words have not changed in 3000 years, the containers reflect the artistic style of new generations.
